Data Governance

This is an interdisciplinary research theme that aims at enhancing quality, security, accessibility, and usability of data and data management practices. In particular, this theme focuses on utilizing artificial intelligence to advance: Big data interoperability, IoT data management, Metadata management, and Cloud data storage.

Current projects include:

Data Analytics

This theme focuses on big/small data analytics using machine learning methods such as deep learning and data mining. This theme is highly collaborative. Projects are performed in collaboration with subjective matter experts to facilitate more reliable decision making: Decision support systems, Social media analytics, and Text document analytics.

Current projects include:

  • • Information security (agent-based data protection)
  • • Text analysis (legal contracts, scientific documents)
  • • Decision support systems (avian influenza modeling and bioinformatics for swine genetics)

Privacy Enhancing Solutions

This theme examines the applications of artificial intelligence in protect data. This theme is highly collaborative. Projects are performed in collaboration with privacy practitioners and data owners/stewards: Agent-based data protection, Usable privacy policies and privacy preferences, and Adaptive access control.

Data Traceability

This theme is interrelated with other themes and examines various strategies to enhance data traceability. It focuses on artificial intelligence methods to enable automation end-to-end and enhance processes: Agent-based data management, Blockchain, and Big data management.
